Pocky & Rocky Reshrined Is Coming To PC Later This Month

Developer Tengo Project has announced that the shrine maiden shooter Pocky & Rocky Reshrined will release for PC via Steam later this month. The game is a new sequel to the original hugely popular Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) game.

According to the statement posted on TENGO's Twitter account, the new sequel will be playable on PC from Friday, February 24. Pocky & Rocky Reshrined has been available on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 since June 24, 2022.

Kiki Kaikai is the commonly used term to refer to the game in Japan where it originated back in the late 80s under the license from TAITO Corporation. It follows the struggles of a young Shinto shrine maiden named Pocky and her companion, Rocky the raccoon, using her talisman to battle monsters and spirits in Japanese mythology. Players must topple the adversaries and save a group of creatures called the Nopino Goblins through the cooperative or the single-player mode.

The third instalment to release on PC is developed by TENGO Project, comprised of the team involved in the original, and published by Natsume Atari. The team has incorporated advanced hardware to improve the classic shooting game. Although the sequel maintains the 16-bit style graphics, fun, and soundtrack, it powers them up to appeal to players and stand out in the competitive market.

Pocky & Rocky's Extra Easy Story Mode has been the big draw as it enables even players who aren't good at shooting games to play to the final stage. They only need to defeat a certain number of enemies to unlock the mode. With the easy story mode, players can then achieve the Free Mode, which lets them choose their preferred character or switch to a two-player mode.

Pocky & Rocky Reshrined will retail at $29.99 with a discount in the first week after release. TENGO asks players to add it to their wishlist to get notified when it releases and qualify for the discount.
